There are a few easy ways to return your eligible containers and collect your 10c refund. Each refund point is a little different, read below so you can choose what suits you best

Depot

Depots are large, staffed recycling centres where our team is ready to help.
They’re built for all return sizes — from a few containers to carloads. With walk-in, drive-through, fast-counting, or material-counting services, depots make recycling quick and efficient. They never fill up, so there’s no need to book ahead. Get instant cash, electronic refunds via bank account or or choose to donate — all at one convenient location plus a smile.

Drop & Go

Drop & Go locations let recycling fit easily into your day. Pre-register once for a Containers for Change Scheme ID and you're ready to go.

How it works

  • Bag it: Put your eligible containers into durable bags (regular kitchen tidy bags work perfectly).

  • Label it: Label your bags with your scheme ID.

  • Drop it: Leave your bags at an Drop & Go location.

We’ll collect and count your containers at our depot, and your account will be credited within a few days. Easy.

Self-serve kiosks are perfect for when you're heading to the shops! Take your 10c containers with you or return containers to them while you're out and about. The machines will count them singularly then you can then process your refund to your Scheme ID or donate the funds. Simple and clean!

Collection Service - ReCollect

We pick up eligible containers straight from your home or business and return them for cash on your behalf. No trips. No sorting stress. No wasted refunds.

Perfect for homes, offices, cafés, and commercial spaces, ReCollect works seamlessly alongside your existing recycling program—just smarter.

Our depots offer cash-back refunds, electronic refunds, and donation options.

You do not need an account to receive a cash refund at our depots. 

Containers need to be eligible in the WA Scheme, need to be empty and not completely crushed. 

Refund timeframes vary by Drop & Go location. Containers are collected from the station and transported to a depot for sorting and counting before payment is processed.

Once the station has been serviced and your containers arrive at the depot, you can expect payment within:

  • Metro: Up to 2 business days

  • Regional: Up to 7 business days

  • Remote: Up to 10 business days

You’ll receive an email notification once your refund has been processed.

Yes. You need a member number to track your 10¢ container returns at a Drop & Go station.

Log in to the app with your member number to access tracking, and make sure your bag(s) are labelled with your member number so we can match them to your account.

If your refund is taking longer than expected, please call 13 42 42 or email info.wa@containersforchange.com.au so we can investigate for you.

You can also check the status of your return anytime through the app:

  1. Open the app and tap 'DROP & GO' at the bottom of the home screen.

  2. Select 'Drop & Go history'. Here you’ll see the date of your return, the Drop & Go location you visited, and the current status of your return.

Once your containers have been collected and sent to the depot for processing, the status will update from 'At Drop & Go' → 'Collected' → 'Complete' when your refund has been deposited into your account

Kiosks do not dispense cash.
To receive your refund electronically, please download the Containers for Change WA app before visiting the site.

Alternatively, you can choose a retail voucher refund and cash the voucher in at each Kiosk’s participating grocery partner service desk

If you have not yet received your refund, please contact our customer experience team with the following ready to go: 

  • The location name of your return
  • The date and time of your return
  • Member number (if you have one)
  • The number of containers you returned

If your total purchase at a participating grocery store is less than the value of your refund voucher, the difference will be paid to you in cash.
